Here's a good question and recipe requestion from reader Thanh-Thuy, who writes:
The Great Harvest bakery here in Burlington, Vermont has a delicious apple cheddar bread, I've always wanted to bake it, but I've been unable to find the recipe. I've looked on Google, Chow, etc, but the only results that come up are ones with shortening, nuts, cream cheese, or something that would make this savory bread extremely sweet. Any ideas?
Thanh-Thuy, we're going to turn this over to the readers, but first we have two recipe suggestions to try:
• Walnut Cheddar Apple Bread
• New England Apple Cheddar Bread
Anyone have a good non-sweet apple cheddar bread recipe?

Could you adapt Dorie Greenspan's Bacon-Cheddar Quick Bread with Dried Pears? Or this savory Asiago, Apple and Rosemary loaf? Neither of these is a yeast bread, so it may not be what you had in mind, but I have made the Greenspan recipe and it's quite good.
I don't know about bread, but this reminds me of Apple Cheddar Scones.
Sounds yummy. There's a Vermont Cheddar recipe in "ARTISAN BREAD IN FIVE MINUTES A DAY" - my go-to book for easy bread-making. Don't know if you could add apples easily.
Here's a great "Apple Cheddar Bread" recipe!http://gimmesomeoven.com/apple-cheddar-bread/.
