Recipe: D.I.Y. Orange Smoothie

Recipes from The Kitchn

What's your favorite smoothie flavor? We had a banana version the other day from one of those chain smoothie spots. It was good, but shockingly high in calories, too sweet, and it had some sort of "energy powder" (our bet is on powdered wheatgerm) that tickled our throat and made us cough.

It's just too easy to make your own smoothies - here's one of our favorites. Sweet, tangy, and most importantly, ice cold, this tastes just like a Creamsicle. All you need is a blender and a few basic groceries. Whip one up and stay cool!

Orange Vanilla Smoothie

2 servings

1 1/2 cups ice
1 cup whole milk yogurt
6 ounces (half a can) orange juice concentrate
1 small can of mandarin oranges, drained
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons sugar (or more, if you like it super-sweet)

Whiz all ingredients in a blender until frothy and orange.
