As grilling season heats up, you’re going to want to include this simple and oh-so-versatile sauce in your repertoire. Stir it together in mere minutes with three basic ingredients — honey, lime, and soy sauce — and you have a flavor-packed condiment that is just the right balance of sweet, salty, and sour. And since it pairs well with everything from the grill and beyond, it’s one of our favorite sauces of the season.

How to Use This Sauce

This sauce combines equal parts tangy lime juice, floral honey, and umami-packed soy sauce (or tamari if you prefer to keep it gluten-free). Stick with a more mild honey, like clover or orange blossom, so it complements the other ingredients instead of competing with them.

Get a jump on flavoring dinner by using this three-ingredient blend as a marinade for chicken, pork, steak, fish, veggies, and tofu. Brush it on meat and veggies right before they come off the grill for a glaze, or simply spoon it over dinner once you’re at the table. You can even use it as a fresh sauce for your stir-fry.

Want to kick up the flavor up even more? Stir in some finely grated fresh ginger for a pungent, spicy bite, or a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes for a little heat.
