Reader Mr. P. sent along this super-easy, super-quick, no-ice-cream-maker-required frozen treat, and we love it!
He calls it "Glittering Raspberry Kulfi," and it's a version of Indian kulfi. Kulfi is a very easy frozen treat; it's usually quite dense, as compared to regular ice cream, so it doesn't require air to be whipped in by an ice cream maker.
All you need is some evaporated milk, fine sugar, frozen raspberries, and a blender. The "glittering" part comes from a few strategically-placed silver dragées — very bling!

According to wikipedia, the silver coating on the dragées are inedible or at least not meant to be edible. They are also illegal in California.
party pooper.
Doesn't Martha Stewart or someone make edible glitter? You could use that instead. I've seen it on cupcakes and it's really pretty.
Inedible? Illegal in CA?
OMG. I'm literally going to go crazy over this. Mine don't say anything about that. Argh!
Faith - Hi, and thanks for the feature! I've since made a vanilla-blueberry version, and am going to try mango next.
And Riye - That would make it look superb!
Well, you could always buy silver or gold leaf (vark) at an Indian grocery instead of the little silver balls, which would be more traditional as well.
@Sygyzy, yeah, technically silver isn't good for you but 1)a few pretty silver things won't kill you and 2)it was ONE SINGLE sue-happy lawyer that made it too troublesome to carry them in California courtesy of our environmental laws (I think, the article I read on it was a while ago). There is supposedly one bake shop in SF that sells them but you have to sign a contract saying "No, I will not eat these," before you can buy. Normally I haven't got anything against lawyers but that guy really makes me mad.
Here's the link, now that I've had time to look for it: Oh NOES! Silver will kill us all!"
ran out to buy the ingredients and made this last night! (sans glittery additions). delish!
Thank you for the recipe, I made a tropical version with Trader Joe's frozen tropical fruit trio and it was delicious!
Wow, simple! Sounds fantastic, though.
(I've been lured into that 'make your own condensed milk' b.s. once before when making kulfi...never again! By the time I was done, the end result wasn't even any good and I was so frustrated I didn't want it anyway.)
I'm so pleased some of you tried this out. :)
I'm thinking it would be good unfrozen too. Although that might just be my greed.
Kakugori - exactly what I thought. That's why you can buy evaporated milk. Or so I told myself! :)
