What would life in the kitchen be like without whole grains? For me, it would be a sadder existence. Oats, whole wheat, and pseudo-grains like quinoa and amaranth provide pops of protein and healthy fiber. But they offer more than healthy benefits, too. They are delicious! Where would meals be without nutty brown rice, tender oats, and delicate quinoa? Here are 15 of our favorite whole grain recipes for every meal: Quinoa chili and salads, whole wheat muffins, a brown rice bowl with lemongrass, tofu, and cashews. There's a warm farro salad with roasted vegetables, and whole wheat couscous, too. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner — there's a whole grain to enjoy.

LOVE these great takes on whole grains. Try cracked wheat Lebanese-style--Toasted Bulghur with Poached Chicken (can do it vegetarian too, with onions):

I'm allergic to gluten and most grains but appreciate the recipes anyway because thank goodness I can eat quinoa! Most of these will work with that lovely grain. Thanks!
Is couscous really a grain?
Wow -- great recipes! For health reasons, I recently started eating only whole grain foods and I can't wait to try these. Quinoa is my new favorite ingredient, and this past summer I discovered whole wheat couscous, as well as black quinoa. If you can't find these at your local grocery store or whole foods market, you can order online from several different sites.
Faith, your posts are always a pleasure to read. Thanks for the Monday morning pick-me-up and healthy recipe inspiration! :-)
I've spent most of the summer looking to incorporate grains into our meals. I usually like to put a sweeter or acidic component in them to brighten/lighten up our meals.
One of my new favorite ways to do this is by taking fruit salsa I like to make and adding quinoa or Israeli couscous, this could be pineapple, cucumber, jalapeno and red pepper, with rice wine vinegar, or mango, pepper, cucumber with lime juice, etc. etc.
I also love quinoa three bean salad and quinoa caprese salad.
Keep these grain recipes coming please!
@SIDNEY R. nope, couscous is a pasta, not a grain. I just included it here because of the whole wheat aspect. That whole wheat couscous is really tasty.
