Have you ever tried to make a sponge look classy? Yes, they come in all different colors and you can buy handmade items from Etsy that look a little nicer than your average big box find, but still, a sponge is a pretty hard thing to dress up. That is until these vintage soap holders came to my attention.
I was hunting for Father's Day ideas over at Martha Stewart recently and stumbled upon these sweet vintage soap holders, which would be perfect to dress up the sponge or handheld brush by your sink. They mount to the wall so there's nothing taking up counter space or a space in your sink. They allow air to get to things so they don't get funky and look pretty cute in the process.
Where do you keep your sponges? Do you hide them away? Let us know in the comments below.

That's a nice-looking solution!
My solution works for my rented apartment (where I'm not allowed to screw anything into my Formica backsplash, understandably.) I found a cute painted ceramic mini-loaf pan in a thrift store. It's handmade, from Poland, and looks pretty jolly. My sponge, SOS pad, and kitchen-sink bar of soap live in there together. (I take care not to drip tons of water in there.)
I've seen interesting little sponge-alcoves built behind the sink, in recent house-tours featuring kitchens with tiled kitchen counters and backsplashes (usually vintage Californian homes). I think those are interesting, but I like a solution where air can circulate a little better.
I keep mine in the diswasher - so they are hidden and then go through the wash cycle when I run a load!
