If you're a fan of oatmeal and if you're anything like me, you look long and hard throughout the fall and winter months for toppings to keep you excited and inspired about your morning porridge. Toasted nuts, dried fruits, honey, nut butters, and dried coconut are all good places to start. And then, mid-season: the oatmeal doldrums can kick in. What to do? Roasting seasonal fruit and stirring it into your next bowl of oats will surely change things a bit for you. This time of year, apples and pears are delicious to roast in the oven with a little honey, maple syrup, or a vanilla-bean mixture.
