You can't successfully get a casserole to the table without two things. The first is a few good potholders and the second is a trivet. Although some might just use a towel we went in search of a few stylish options and as it turns out — that's actually a rather difficult task.
Now the phrase "trivet snob" sounds a little ridiculous, but apparently that's the case. You see, even if we're in the mood for a laugh, we don't really need a shirtless firefighter trivet and we really don't see the point in... well... whatever this is.

Floral Drink Dispen...

I use a smaller bamboo cutting board as a trivet. It's pretty and multi-functional: it also works as a great cheeseboard for parties.
The deer trivet is sweet!
I inherited several cast-iron trivets from my grandmother. They have a Pennsylvania Dutch look to them and look charming hanging next to the wood stove when they're not in use.
For something a little more colorful, I used yarn made from sari-silk to knit a table runner. Another idea: braided wool rug stair-runners provide rustic charm. I use a stair runner to protect the top of my vintage secretary-style desk.
I love the trivet my little brother made for me - he used old wine corks and somehow made them into a nice pattern with pins! Very cool.
These sure beat the boring trivets I'm used to seeing. Thanks for the inspiration in unexpected places.
