I discovered this jar in the back of my pantry, and on an evening when my dinner options were sparse. Cracking open the jar, these giant (they really are huge!) beans didn't seem like much. But when heated up with couscous and a dusting of freshly grated Parmesan cheese, I was surprised at the meal that resulted!
At first glance, the beans seemed rather oily, but the tomatoes and chunks of spices kept my hopes up. I then drained a few, microwaved them until heated and wow, the flavors melded together well and the beans were tender and full of savory flavor. These beans were great as a light vegetarian dinner, but would work well as an appetizer on their own, or crushed and spread over toasted bread.
They have a Greek flavor and are a great secret to store away in the cupboard for cold nights. And they're preservative free!
Have you tried TJ's giant white beans?

I'll have to check this out! It looks and sounds simple and delicious. TJ's is on my to do tomorrow. They have such yummy interesting food.
I love these! I often eat them straight out of the jar as I work on dinner. They're delicious.
These are delicious! And if you fancy doing it yourself, there's a simple recipe here:

surprised i haven't tried those yet - i've tried everything else there!
We sell these at Whole Foods. Looking at them, I never would have tried them but my boss insisted. And she was right. They are so dang good!
How uncanny - I am living in Greece for a few months and this is exactly what I had for lunch today! I've never seen/heard of them before but was remarking via email to my mother about how delicious they were. Great to find a recipe in the comments so I can make them at home. This is why I keep returning to this site!
I LOVE these! I pick them up for any party I'm having and just set some toothpicks next to them. I always just eat them at room temp - they're always a big hit!
I tried these last year (I could swear I saw something posted here about them that caused me to buy them). I remember that, together with the chunky sauce in the jar, they were too salty for my taste, but it didn't even occur to me to drain them. Maybe, draining them is the trick.
I discovered these a few months ago when a friend came to my house for a potluck. She had run out of time to make anything of her own, so she stopped at TJ's and bought a couple of jars.
We jazzed them up by adding crumbled goat cheese, pesto and panko breadcrumbs, then baking. DELICIOUS!
Yup, so good. I bought a jar and for a quick dinner one night cooked some spaghetti, quickly drained and tossed with the beans (sauce and all) and topped with parmesan. The slightly starchy noodles gripped the sauce and mixed with the cheese created a creamy deliciousness. A great fast meal.
If you live in Chicago, the Middle Eastern Bakery on the northside the makes a version of the white beans that are so good.
Nancy Harmon Jenkins has a recipe for Greek style beans..... don't know how authentic but it sounds delicious......

I haven't been able to use these for any recipes because my teenage daughter always finds them in the pantry first and devours them as an after-school snack, straight out of the jar.
gross. pasta please!
How funny. Tonight, I was going through my pantry and came across a jar of these that I haven't yet tried. I guess I know what's for dinner tomorrow night.
Gigante beans! I first encountered them atop a Greek salad from Chopt. I have been looking for a place to buy them since. They're so creamy, like my favorite cannelini, and triple the size! Guess I'll check next time I'm in TJ's. It's basically the only place I shop anyway...
