I was late to jump on the coconut water bandwagon. I'd tried it a few times and just didn't understand what all the hype was about. Then I tasted Real Coconut Water.
Coconut water is the clear, natural liquid found when you crack open a coconut. It holds a mild coconut flavor that I've never found it appealing. When I've tried bottled coconut water it always tasted somewhat flat, like it was missing everything about a coconut that tastes good. Somehow, the folks at Taste Nirvana, the company behind Real Coconut Water, managed to make their variety taste just as coconut water should -- slightly sweet and with a pleasant coconut aftertaste.
I love drinking a bottle after a workout; it's great source of potassium and sweet in a naturally healthy way. It's also great to add to smoothies, and as a lighter way to make coconut rice. The variety that includes pulp -- really just small chunks of coconut meat -- takes some getting used to (should you chew the pieces or just swallow them whole?) but is quite tasty as well.
