Whether repurposing an actual one or copying their style in new kitchen cabinetry, we love the old-fashioned vibe brought to these kitchens and dining rooms by pie safes:

In the first two kitchens pictured, the cabinetry has punched metal panels that give a nod to the pie safe. Whether in all white or a bright hue, we love this look and think it's a possible idea for updating existing cabinets on a budget.

Third, we see a major appliance, the refrigerator, fit with pie-safe-style panels.

And finally, in the last two images, we see actual pie safes repurposed as sideboards in the dining room.

What do you think about borrowing from Grandma's aesthetic and reusing the pie safe in contemporary kitchens?
