Sangria is one of my favorite things. It combines fruit, which is good, and wine, which I love, into something absolutely divine. And you don't even have to buy expensive wine. There are those who advocate using good wine for sangria, but I'm a firm believer in finding the cheapest bottle at the grocery store. Seeing that three dollar wine transformed in something delicious and drinkable is nothing short of magical.
Sangria is typically thought of as a hot-weather drink, and when the cold sets in each year I miss it terribly. There's always mulled wine to look forward to (and I love mulled wine), but nothing can quite take the place of a tall glass of wine and fruit. That's why I've scoured the distant reaches of the internet to bring you these fall-appropriate sangrias. Now there's something to be thankful for.

Red-and-Pink-Stripe...

If you make sangria for guests, please don't use the cheapest wine you can find. A lot of people get terrible headaches from bottom shelf wine and might not realize what they're drinking since it will be masked by all of the delicious ingredients in this sangria. Don't go all out either, a $9 bottle would be fine for most people.
Hmm, that's kind of frustrating. The first recipe sounds really good but their link to the "Spiced simple syrup" just refreshes the page...it doesn't take you to the recipe for the syrup.
@Janus42: I think the editors may have fixed the link. Here's what I got when I clicked through: http://www.chow.com/recipes/13694-spiced-cranberry-sangria
@Janus42: Yeah, that looks like an error on CHOW. I searched for the spiced simple syrup recipe on the site. Here it is!
I made the spiced apple cider sangria for Thanksgiving and my family loved it - wished I had made a double batch!
