Pantry Before & After: An Empty Hallway Turned Pipe Shelf Pantry

Pantry Makeover

A couple years Roeshel of the blog DIY Show Off removed the pantry closet in her kitchen to make room for the refrigerator. While that was necessary at the time, she still lost a lot of valuable storage space in the process. To regain that space, she turned a good-sized but unused hallway into a makeshift pantry area, complete with a DIY industrial pipe shelf. See what this area looks like now!

The space suddenly looks so much bigger, doesn't it!? Roeshel was first inspired to create an open pantry area after seeing this pantry on Design*Sponge a few years ago, and then seeing this industrial pipe shelving unit at The Brick House. She thought she could make something similar work in the 6'x9'x9' hallway outside her kitchen door.

And make it work she did! "The shelves were designed to fit the wall to ceiling and floor space perfectly and to accommodate our microwave as well as dried goods and baskets," she writes. "I'm still messing with getting it all organized but I loooove how this once awkward unused space is now functional and pretty!"
