Pie "hamper"? Pie "basket"? Whatever you want to call this, a friend of ours has one and we're coveting it! It's the perfect way to transport a fresh pie or tart from oven to picnic table without worrying about spills or unfortunate drops, don't you think?
The hamper is square-shaped and accommodates a 9- or 10-inch pie in its pan with just a little wiggle room on all sides. A removable wooden tray rests in the bottom of the basket so you can carry a pie out the door even if it's still steaming hot. We also think the tray would double as a nice stand for displaying your pie on a dessert table!
Looking online, we only found a few sources for pie carriers like this one. The best seemed to come from Peterboro Basket Company (link below), but we're not sure we can justify the $50 sticker price this summer. Our friend found hers at a thrift store, so we'll just keep our eyes peeled!
Could you use something like this?

I think it's worth $50 since it's made in the U.S. with American-made materials. I'd rather outfit my place with Peterboro than with some cheap sweatshop-made stuff.
Last year I bought a round pie carrier from 2 Amish girls on a roadside in Missouri. It's signed by the person who made it. It's simply beautiful. And it was about $25. So it you're in Amish areas, look for them there.
My mom has one of these, and she uses it ALL the time. And my sister got one for a wedding gift (Longaberger). I really should put one on my wishlist, too--so many times it would've been handy to have one!
