Here's a cute, crafty project some of you might enjoy: keep your small electric appliances organized by storing them in cubby holes. And lest you forget where they go, create labels with Scrabble letters! It's like your appliances just showed up for their first day of kindergarten.
What do you think? Would you ever do this in your kitchen?

I love this idea, and I have a bag full of scrabble letters I bought on eBay. I'd put them on the front of the shelf, though, so I could slide the appliance in. Thanks for a cute idea!
Seems like of awkward. Shouldn't they be flush so that you can get the appliances in and out without accidentally knocking the tiles loose?
Ok, Glad wrap on the refrigerator shelves, labeled appliance cubbies, Lucky Charms desserts? There is some weird stuff on Kitchn this morning...more in line with a preschool than a home?
@MOCHENE, yeah, the idea is cute enough, but this execution seems a little sloppy.
Does it really matter which appliance goes on which shelf? And would you really have enough of them in use at the same time that you'd forget where each one belonged...? Seems a little pointless to me
...Also, I feel like if you can't look at your toaster and know it's a toaster, you have more to worry about than how it's labelled.
But I love the concept anyway!
This just seems so frivolous to me, not to mention poorly executed (like the other commenters said...why are they not flush?). Demanding this level of organization and cuteness will drive you absolutely bugnutty. Aesthetically, it's not even that great or inspired, and it's functionally horrible. Cute in the photo, yes, but hardly something I would imitate in any way.
...and all just to display some Scrabble tiles? What the what?
Aside from the execution, a good reason to label shelves would be if someone is helping you clean up, they might not know where things go. And, as INCHBRANCH said, if the tiles were mounted on the front of the shelves, they wouldn't be in the way.
I like whimsical ideas, and so I like this one. Although I'd play with languages and label the cubby holes in Swedish or so ;-)
Seems silly to me.
For a home kitchen, labeling, regardless of how cute seems a bit unnecessary to me.
off topic: I can't STAND containers or vessels that bear the name of what the manufacturers want you to put in them (jar saying "flour" or a mug with "latte" on the side) - aaaargh- let me decide myself!
back on topic perhaps the scrabble tiles would be a little cuter as table decoration when entertaining guests.
I think this is cute and useful. I know that when my BF puts dishes away, he has to ask me where at least a few things go *in his own kitchen* because he's a flake or never uses them, so I might have to try it.
