Any questions or good ideas? And what's for dinner tonight?

huevos rancheros with tomatillo salsa.
Mmm dinner tonight is going to be Bahn or Vermicelli Bowls with grilled pork and shrimp. Yum!
I've been seeing a lot of places do "bacon wrapped" whatever-- figs, asparagus, other veggies, etc.
what is the easiest, fool-proof way to cook a bacon-wrapped-whatever? do i need some toothpicks to do the trick? where do i cook the bacon-wrapped-whatevers? in the oven or on a grill?
thanks in advance!
Dinner tonight -- pan-seared scallops over greens with a side of roasted butternut squash.
Not really sure if the two go together, but I'm excited to see :-)
Dinner tonight-Country ham and grits with red-eye gravy!
Breaded chicken breast cutlets eggplant bake (grilled eggplant slices/ricotta/eggplant/tomato sauce/some cheese on top) and a simple green salad
well, with homemade bread... :-)
Tonight we had a fall tempeh recipe from Whole Foods (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/recipe.php?recipeId=1782)with an Asian-style Swiss chard sautee.
We are flat broke until the 15th so it was TJ's Mac n' Cheese with cut-up Tofu Dogs and frozen peas and pearl onions mixed in! And frozen Concord grapes for dessert. Crunch!
I made green bean casserole! What are some great Spanish dishes? I am planning on making Spanish food for my friend who is visiting this weekend.
I will have to be quite creative as I have a lack of groceries and am also broke like Bx until payday on the 15th.. I have a little bit of tofu left, a red bell pepper, an onion, eggs, and half an avocado. I'm thinking some sort of veggie stir-fry with some brown rice.
I already know the sauce I'll stir-fry it in! Maple/orange glaze 1 table spoon soy sauce 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup 1 tablespoon orange juice 1 teaspoon minced ginger dash of garlic powder
Trust me, it's good.
I'm fixing barbecued pork steaks and green bean cassarole. It's an old family favorite.
This weekend will be mostly planning and prepping for cooking. Braised lamb shanks for Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday night, but I still have to figure out what to eat for on election night (October 14th) when we have people over to watch the returns.
Michelle of Montreal:
I remember eating Danish Rice Pudding in '95 while watching the returns with friends. Something soothing, I thought (mind you, I can't eat rice anymore, so it's out for me this time).
I'm going to be a basket-case by then I think.
I made a gumbo and was inspired to make some sidecars in my vintage cocktail shaker, glass with a metal top. Now we can't get the lid off. It was leaking and spouse tightened it, but it was crooked and not in the threads correctly. Tried hot water, cold water, soap, wasn't there a thread once on how to get things loosened? Can't find it, Any ideas?
michelle, a big lasagna is the best thing, because making it ahead and reheating only improves it and everybody loves it.
Rice with Darjeeling tea-infused basil chili peanut sauce. (vegan!)
