I'm not sure what it is lately, but cinnamon rolls have been on my mind. I charged into January with granola and satsumas in the morning, but the time has come for a quick foray into something a bit sweeter.
While I generally make scones or something savory if I'm going to bake in the morning, cinnamon rolls are the one thing I'll turn to for a real treat. My mom used to make a quick version (that we all thought was homemade) using Pillsbury dough, and at the time my sisters and I thought them quite magical. Today, of course, we know how easy they actually are to make from scratch, with endless options to customize and make them your own.
A very favorite recipe from the Kitchn are Faith's lemon rolls which couldn't get much more decadent. Then there are recipes that include warm chai spices while others fold in marmalade for a true winter morning treat. Because they're best warm, many cinnamon rolls can keep for a few days. I simply give mine a quick heat, so even if they're a day beyond the point where they'd taste best, they soften right up. Here are a few options on the off chance you need a quick break from your healthy breakfast resolutions:

Faith's recipe for Sticky Lemon Rolls is AMAZING. I have made them for several brunches and people are always wowed. It's a wonderful dough recipe, and easily adapted to a cinnamon (non-lemon) version.
