Whenever we go to our favorite bagel store in New York for breakfast, we skip right past the array of cream cheeses and order egg salad. Maybe it's a lunchtime food to you, but we think it's perfect pre-10 a.m. Same goes for BLTs... peanut butter and jelly... This is the same line of thinking that leads us to eat leftover cobbler or birthday cake for breakfast (on occasion). It's flour, sugar, eggs, fruit—same stuff that's in scones, muffins, and pancakes. Why should we discriminate because something is, technically, dessert?
We love any kind of breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon, or sausage. But sometimes we want something a little cooler and fresher. Egg salad is fantastic in the morning—full of protein, satisfying, and easy to wrap up in a tortilla if you want something portable to take on the go.
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are another morning favorite, and grilled cheese is really just cheese toast with an extra slice of bread. Bacon? Bacon is absolutely breakfast territory, so why not a BLT in the morning?
