7-6--modern.jpgLooking for a modern fan? Here's the place to start. The Modern Fan Co. is design entrepeneur Ron Rezek's distinctive collection of fans all displayed in one place.

7-6--whotel.jpgIt is particularly nice to see such a hard core of modern design totally focused on fans. There are 18 minimal designs, mainly in brushed steel, which come with lighting and finish options. They include nice pics on the site of their fans installed in such places as the W Hotel and the Waldorf Towers.

Though The Modern Fan Co. does not offer online sales, it links you to stores all over the US that sell these designs. In other words, they are easy to get your hands on.

I remember checking some of these out before I settled for the Minka Aire, bought it new off of eBay for a pretty good deal.

Anyone have any idea as to what I should pay/tip my super to remove an ugly overhead light and replace it w/ one of these fans... like the cirrus or ball hugger?

I have had my fan for about two years. I love it, very quiet, worth every penny not to look like a Home Depot fan. The only downside is that when I want to change direction, I need to get up on a ladder, and unscrew the bottom half of the ball to access the reverse switch.

I just installed two Modern Fan Company fans. They are great! Very heavy though, you'll want to make sure your electrical box can support them.

I replaced the fan in my living room with the Cirrus a few years ago. I like it a lot; it's much quieter than the fan I had previously. My only complaint is that it does not have a (hardwired) reverse mode.

We got the cirque fan with the mahogany blades 2 years ago and still love it. Now we are thinking about the artemis for our bedroom.

I love ceiling fans. It's is great that there are finally some good looking ones out there.

I recently bought two modern ceiling fans from Minka Aire's Flyte Collection, both in white.

Installed the Cirrus Hugger (brushed metal) in my bedroom about three years ago. Its just great -- quiet, beautiful, and helps me avoid A/C most nights. My contractor put it in as part of a renovation so no thoughts on what to pay the super, but its definitely a "pay" not "tip" situation I think.

I have a ceiling that's 9ft high in the living room and in the bedroom is 8ft high. How far should the fan be place from the ceiling?

I am more in to the rotational fans by Matthews...more efficient air movement than paddle fans like these. MATTHEWSFANCO.COM
