Seems like folks are developing apps for just about everything these days, but this one caught our eye. Why? Who doesn't love cheese? The problem we sometimes find ourselves in is two-fold. Either we're in a cheese rut and need new ideas or inspiration. Or we have our favorite go-to cheese but aren't quite sure what food or wine pairs well with it. That's where Chronicle Books comes in. They're focusing more energy on food-related apps for iPhones and iPads with Cheese Plate as one of the latest. Food journalist and cheese expert, Janet Fletcher, has compiled the content for this comprehensive app, featuring 25 themed cheese platters and information on more than 150 individual cheeses.
We think this app will be great to turn to when stuck in the cheese aisle wanting to try something new but not quite sure where to turn. And when entertaining, Cheese Plate will walk you through how to compose the perfect spread with lovely photographs and clear descriptions. Fletcher also writes fantastic tips on how to taste, handle, and store cheese. The app is searchable, so you can learn a bit about cheese from different geographies and regions. Useful and educational — what more could you ask for in a good app?
Realistically it won't be one that you turn to each day, but we're happy to have it in our back pocket.
