Not to dismiss the innovation of Ronnybrook Farms, but why have we not come up with this ourselves? Sweet, cinnamon butter that makes knockout toast in one easy step (no messy sprinkling). Want to see what it looks like?
Mmm. We first spotted it at Whole Foods but ended up buying it at the farmers' market, straight from the Ronnybrook vendor. And we've been eating it every morning for the past week, spread on raisin bread and toasted.
Here's what happens when you run this stuff under the broiler (or the toaster oven): The butter melts, and the cinnamon and sugar that are mixed in get bubbly and slightly crispy on top. Delicious. And clearly this would not be a hard thing to make at home. Soften some butter, mix in a load of cinnamon, sugar, and a pinch of salt, and form it into a log.
We're sort of toying with the idea of adding this butter to a savory pasta dish with butternut squash. Or maybe figured into this pie somehow. What do you think?

i think you should spread that stuff all over all edibles. it sounds awesome.
My dad used to make cinnamon sugar butter all the time for us. I still make it now and then, but can't make it too often 'cause I will eat way too much of it!
My college had cinnamon butter and strawberry butter at the dining hall -- yum. Just thinking about that makes me want to make up some for the weekend!!
this is how the pioneer woman makes her cinnamon toast. she also adds a tiny bit of vanilla and nutmeg, but under the broiler; wow. i'll never go back :)
So how would one make this? Cream in the food processor plus cinammon and sugar?? Butter whipped up in the Kitchenaid with the same? I'm curious.
And I will also have to look up the PW's french toast recipe now. YUM.
We've had that in Canada for quite a while. Ours probably has a few extra preservatives in it...homemade IS often better.

I make cinnamon honey butter at home, which is quite similar. It's fantastic on scones or toast.
Perhaps if you were to add this into a pie crust it would be even better. I'm just picturing it pumpkin pie with that butter in the crust. mmmmmm
I bet this would be perfect on roasted squash. It would save the extra step my mom used to do by putting butter and sugar into a half of a squash while it was in the oven.
Ronnybrook Farm is great. I try to buy almost all of my dairy products straight from the farm vendor at the Greenmarket, as the prices are much better that way. You can also see their products used in Food Network shows, too. Oh - and be on the look-out for seasonal products like pumpkin ice cream!
When I was a kid, my mom found a book of kitchen/cooking projects for kids, and making cinnamon-sugar butter for toast was one of them. It was my favorite treat on weekend mornings (when my breakfast was up to me), and one I've still occasionally indulged in as an adult.
