Lodge announced the new color for their cast-iron line at the Home and Housewares Show: Emerald Green.
Buy Lodge's Emerald Green and you'll be keeping a lot more greenbacks in your pocket. Lodge's cast iron costs far less than similar products from Le Creuset and Staub ...
Lodge's line of enameled cast iron is made in China under Lodge's supervision, while Le Creuset and Staub manufacture their signature enameled cast-iron in France. (Update: A spokesperson from Lodge told us their factories undergo "rigorous" third party inspections. Also, Lodge spent two years searching for a foundry that would meet the company's quality specifications.)
Lodge's new color will be available on their site soon.
Choosing a new cast-iron piece for your kitchen is a decision that goes beyond color. Cooks need to consider size, weight, special function, cost, heat tolerance, even family traditions. Here's our suggestions on buying a Dutch oven.
