Here's a little taste of what's cooking in newspaper food sections around the country this week. It's still winter, and it's still really cold...
In Massachusetts the Boston Globe has a feature on the food of Almodovar's Volver, budget winter wines, Coq au Vin, and really good Bolognese sauce.
In California the San Francisco Chronicle begins a new vegetarian series called Vegetable Love, kicking it off with recipes for Farro Risotto with Roasted Mushrooms & Chard and Shirred Eggs with Greens & Gruyere. They also have a feature on meat sauces and a review of different brands of cannellini beans.
They're doing hearty winter foods in Memphis, Tennessee, with a ton of good soup recipes, a look at the classic French cassoulet, and a quest for a more healthy macaroni and cheese.
In Utah they're focused on good winter cooking, with an apple pecan vinaigrette, a look at the mysterious rutabaga, and a recipe for Leek and Feta Pithiviers.
