A few months ago, Elizabeth showed us the work of Yvette van Boven, a cook, artist and restauranteur living in Amsterdam who creates beautifully illustrated recipes. Here's a round up of a few more hand-made recipes from other artists and cooks. Enjoy!
We haven't seen many hand-illustrated recipes since the days of Molly Katzen' Moosewood Cookbook and Enchanted Broccoli Forest but they seem to be making a comeback. There are even websites dedicated to illustrated recipes like They Draw & Cook and Recipe Look.
These sometimes beautiful, sometimes fun recipes are usually short and simple, and can easily translate to a single page or two. Two favorites are from Nikole Herriott of forty-sixth at grace who's Shortbread Buttons and Cloud Cookies are so sweet.
• Village Salad by Angie
• Cloud Cookies by Nikole Herriott
• Shortbread Buttons by Nikole Herriott
• Pink Lemonade by Sally Welchman
• How to Roast a Chicken by Lea Hernandez
• A Recipe for Love by Adi Firth
• Banana Pancakes by Vicki Smith
• Quick & Lazy Strawberry Salad by Marianna Oklejak
• Salsa Verde by Gennine Zlatkis
• Raw Brussels Sprout and Radish Salad By Christina and Phil

I love this!!! so beautiful, hard to point out just one favorite, but I think "a recipe for love" would be very useful, hanging on my fridge or as a framed poster....love the last part about putting up your feet while your lover does the dishes...way to go!
great roundup Dana!
I love hand-illustrated recipes and food articles! One of my latest favorites is a small zine that illustrator Vanessa Davis just put out.
It's called Kitchen Conniption and has some wonderful illustrations and recipes from her adventures in the kitchen.
Quick blurb here on her website:

Can be bought here for $3:

I HIGHLY recommend you pick up a copy of "Ginger Tea Makes Friends" by James Barber (the Urban Peasant) if you can, or almost any other cook book of his. All his recipes are in art form and are a joy to read.
I seriously read this book from cover to cover in one sitting.
I love these! Thay're so cute! I would actually love to post these as pics in my kitchen.
Any shop recommendations where such beauties could be bought? I love these recipes, so pretty!
Gorgeous!!!
I like when these recipe illustrations are actually useful. Salad??
These have to be beautifully illustrated, informative, and clear to follow, but unfortunately very few people can meet that demand. The Amsterdam designer did a great job, but these seem too amateurish, and the Cloud cookies just seem like they were written on a scrapbook page.
