Wow. We are so smitten with this bright, cheery cottage kitchen! It belongs to Misty and her family in Austin, Texas, and it looks like such a great place to cook.
We really love that built-in plate rack, and the light, bright IKEA cabinets that Misty and her husband installed when they moved in six years ago. They did leave one very unique feature of the kitchen, though: That brick paver floor!
The color of the kitchen, in case you're interested, is Benjamin Moore Covington Blue.

Martha Concrete Lam...

What a nice homely kitchen. You pointed out some of the great elements in it..that floor is really kewl, I love it though I know some may find it 'uncomfortable'. That farm house door and porter pendant lighting is also very nice giving subtle character to this space.

Love the brick floor, the sink, the cabinets, wall color.... very fresh and cottage-y!
saeras, I don't think you meant to use the word "homely," probably "homey."
This kitchen is beautiful - I'm currently in love with that shade of turquoise so it's right up my alley. I can't STAND that scent of dishsoap though - I have it right now and I wince every time I clean. I liked the green apple best.
I love the feel of this kitchen and, wanting the herringbone floors myself (but not the expense) I've opted to switch my kitchen backsplash to a herringbone using white subway tiles, I hope my results come out half as nice as Misty's.
@Kitalita, as an FYI both homey & homely are correct, homey is used in the U.S. but homely is used in many English-speaking countries outside the U.S. (I know homely sounds strange to the American ear, I'm from California myself, but I heard it often in Canada, England & Australia).
I think Kitalita means that "homey" refers more to warm and like home, whereas "homely" has the general connotation of "ugly" (i.e. She was a really homely looking girl).
Anywho, love the kitchen. Great job on the reno and I just LOVE the splash of colour!
I love that turquoise too. I have bright yellow walls and find all the accessories I can in that blue. This is right up my alley--we have the same cabinets and sink!
Very cute. I am wicked jealous over your Dutch door.
The floor is cool although cleaning it might scare me. Are they splits or full thickness bricks?
I love the wall color and the floors!
...but is it just me or are the counter tops two different colors? To the left of the sink is lighter than to the right of the sink? Or is it a trick of the lighting?
Anyways, it is an adorable kitchen!
Nevermind about the two different colors, I see it now!
I love these cabinets! I've been looking at beadboard styles forever but have never seen this type of door before. Does anyone know where I can find them?
@sauceykat, my point, "homely" outside the U.S. in many English speaking countries is the word for "homey" (rather than being the word for ugly).

Oh I love it. Beautiful!
And yep, homely also means cozy, comfortable and unpretentious - this kitchen is definitely all those things.
Lovely kitchen. I especially like the little wallpaper bird cutouts. Were these purchased or home made? I have some 60's wallpaper I plan use this way.
