Do you have a mirror in your kitchen? I always like the look when I see it, and I can think of a few benefits (reflecting light, giving a greater sense of space), but I also see a few problems (keeping it clean, getting freaked out when I see movement across the room only to realize it's my reflection). What do you think? Are you a fan, or is this look not for you?

I don't like it. It would constantly remind me of being in the bathroom....while cooking. However any other room it doesn't bother me.
I don't like it, either. Maybe a small mirror out of the way of the cooking mess...maybe. I could understand wanting to bounce more natural light around in the room, but the mirrors will get dirty fast and then show it off.
I think it's genius. I need more light in my kitchen and until I can get a window installed I think this is the way to go. Never would have occurred to me (striking forehead!)
Off to Goodwill to find something appropriate.
Does anyone in these homes cook? I can't imagine using a mirror as a backsplash. A few oil splats and you're polishing for the next hour. Behind the sink? Its just too much maintenance.
Not only the cleaning but who wants to look at themselves the entire time you're cooking or washing dishes? Obviously my name is not Narcissa!
The owner of the first one has never cooked nor cleaned that kitchen.
I used the Ikea Molger Mirror in my kitchen. It provides a shelf which I like.
I like the idea of using mirrors in the small space between a counter and low cabinets. My childhood home had one, and it really opened up the space. I'm pretty sure my Mom cleaned it every day, but it was only 12 inches high and maybe two feet wide so it wasn't much of a problem.
@Jeanies: they have. one of them wrote a cookbook. we already had this discussion

I have an antique mirror leaning against the wall behind my sink. It's really not a big deal as far as cleanliness goes. If you keep your sink clean, this means you wipe it down after cooking or doing dishes, so what is it to wipe off the mirror too? Plus an antique one is fairly forgiving. It looks great and opens up the space wonderfully.

I really like that look. And apparently it is good feng shui to have a mirror behind the stove.
