What a cheery kitchen! Although there are elements in this condo kitchen that the owners detest ("The lighting in the kitchen is awful. Also, we hate the countertops, but we don't have the money to bring in contractors") the rest of the kitchen is a lesson in making it work.
In an effort to update the 1980's architecture, Mandy of Fabric, Paper, Glue did all the work herself, which included painting the kitchen walls and cabinets in a bright apple green color, and installing new flooring, hardware, and light fixtures. Great work!

I like it, even though the green is a bit too much for my taste. Question though, wouldn't the floating shelves be in the way when you open the fridge?
Thanks for featuring my kitchen!
Since these photos were taken, there have been quite a few changes -- including nixing the green walls and getting new, decidedly less atrocious light fixtures. You can see some of the updates here: http://www.fabricpaperglue.com/2011/08/classin-up-kitchen.html
As far as those open shelves go, that whole issue was thoroughly litigated by commenters here on Apartment Therapy a few years ago. The fridge doors do indeed open...all the way. The perspective in photos just distorts it.
What a great shade of green! We painted our livingroom army green, which seemed insane to everyone but us. I love it. Makes the place feel like home. Your kitchen has inspired me to go find another room to paint that awesome shade of apple green!
