Meredith Corporation's Allrecipes.com To Launch Magazine

Meredith Corporation announced Monday that they are starting a print version of Allrecipes.com. The magazine, called Allrecipes, will start with a paid circulation of 500,000 and will publish six issues a year. According to Allrecipes.com, you can purchase a two-year subscription to the magazine for $12. It will hit newsstands mid-November.

Meredith agreed to purchase Allrecipes.com from Reader's Digest Association for $175 million in January 2012. The editorial director of Recipes.com, Cheryl Brown, will be the editor-in-chief of the new magazine. Brown also worked as an editor for Gourmet magazine, which folded in 2009. 

It is surprising that as magazines are making the shift to digital that Meredith would decide to launch a print edition of Allrecipes.com. The interest in the magazine, however, appears strong with 400,000 paid orders. According to Ad Age Meredith tested the magazine by promoting it on Allrecipes.com and by bundling it with Family Circle, Parents, Better Homes and Gardens, and Fitness.
