What challenge have you overcome in your kitchen? I am collecting antique local kitchen stuffs, such as old medicine pots, in antique markets because these stuffs go quite well with this old and hand-made kitchen. Surprisingly, my Japanese kitchen stuffs blends in perfectly in the European taste kitchen!

What's the story of your kitchen?
Late 19th century "maison"(house), renovated by our Belgian landlord by hand. The kitchen cabinets are re-cycled old document cabinets for office. The outside of the kitchen is a park with lots of trees, so we can enjoy the sound of birds.
What is your favorite meal to cook here?
I and my partner Keiichi are trying to make authentic Belgian cuisine, such as Flemish beef stew. But my Belgian friends love my Sushi.

Great kitchen!
I use filing cabinets for kitchen storage as well! The big deep drawers are perfect for pots and pans, and make a pretty nifty pull-out pantry too.
Oh wow, love this so elegant and personalized.
a tasteful mix, love it.
This looks like a fabulous and functional space--with an innovative solution to use the file cabinets. I'd like to see a photo of the insides of the cabinets: do you line them? have dividers? I can imagine pots/pans storage, but are you also using it for miscellaneous gadgetry? small appliances?
Where's the oven? Looks like a shelf under the cooktop.
So warm and cozy while being functional. Thanks for sharing!
I love the look and colors, but I cringe at the thought of squeaky metal filing cabinet doors being opened. In my experience, they don't slide out all that well when containing heavy things... unless you have some sort of super heavy duty awesome filing cabinet with better drawer slides.
I deeply appreciate all your comments and votes! This is Megumi. I would like to answer your questions. In the cabinets, I put a lot of spices and ingredients, pasta, and rice.I believe these are really heavy. But the doors always open without any difficulties. I admire the quality of these old cabinets(these were made in Brussels). It is hard to see but my electric oven is inside the shelf just above the red cloth and under the cook-top in the first photo. Yes, my oven is really small, but I still enjoy baking.
I love the filing cabinets for kitchen drawers! Painted with chalkboard paint they would be wonderful!
