Move over, macaron — there's a new French pastry in town. The merveilleux is a meringue that sandwiches a cream filling, with the whole thing being rolled in various coatings, like chocolate or more meringue crumbs.
These pastries, which come in three sizes and six flavors at Aux Merveilleux de Fred in New York City, have finally migrated to the US from Belgium and France. We'll see if these newcomers outshine the classic macaron anytime soon!
