Cotton candy: Usually finding this sweet treat means you're at an amusement park. Have you ever seen a cotton candy machine? They're rather large, impractical contraptions, and tend to fill air in the room with bits of cotton candy. But what to do if you want to make some at home? Check out this cool DIY solution - at $45, why not? Well, that is, if you have a drill press. Still, fun to watch!
The folks at Make put this mini cotton candy machine together using some stainless steel bowls, a fan motor, a propane torch, and some other items you'd find in a well-equipped shop class. Even if you're not the DIY type, this video helps show exactly how cotton candy is made - pretty cool stuff!

I saw a 'recipe' on Pinterest where you put cotton candy on a glow stick and it lights up from the inside. Looked like a fun thing to do.
Why Not? Because you can buy a cotton candy machine for less than $45?
Guys, come on... With a similar price tag, you can buy this: http://www.google.com/shopping/product/7829862840836267963?tbm=shop&source=mog&hl=en&gl=us&client=safari&tab=wf&q=cotton%20candy%20machine&sa=N&biw=480&bih=268&ei=tuc0ULTuDMfv0gG5ooHYBQ&ved=0CHwQ8wIwAw#hsec:overview
Saves you time and you don't have to mess with a torch. And if you look for it, there are lower end alternatives for as little as $25...
Yeah, if I were in the market for a candy floss machine, I would probably buy that... but it's cool to see someone make one from scratch! I definitely enjoyed the viedo :)
we have a cotton candy machine at work...for any one out there that does this or wonders why its so hard to get the threads to stick to the stick....dip the end of the stick or cone in a sugar/water solution. that is what makes it stick!
