Cadbury Eggs — you either love them, hate them or are obsessed. For the most part, a great deal of folks fall into the obsessed category and although we won't discuss the world of processed sugar today, the idea of making them at home seems slightly more satisfactory and fun!
Over at Instructables user Scoochmaroo has been hard at work. She's the mastermind behind many sweets, treats and ideas over at the ever popular DIY site (Homemade Altoids anyone?).
Her latest adventure was to tackle making her own Cadbury creme filled eggs. Although this recipe isn't exactly light in sugar (that would defeat the whole point), it is made from just a few simple ingredients. We are curious to trade out the corn syrup for Emma's Cane Syrup and see how things turn out.
It looks like an all around good time for those who aren't super fond of the real thing, are looking for a great activity to do with kids or are just looking for some fun in the kitchen. Check out the full tutorial over at Instructables.

ugh ... i think cad eggs are a v creepy concept. sorry!
I know a guy that goes crazy for cadbury eggs. I think I tried a caramel one once and eh, it was like any other chocolate. But this looks like fun.
I LOVE Cadbury Cream Eggs. Full Stop.
Omg I thought the bottom left pic was cockroaches! I used to love the occasional Cadbury egg when I was little, but man, they are sweeeeet.
I once contemplated moving to the UK because I heard they sell them all year round, in vending machines, everywhere.
Heaven.
I LOVE Cadbury eggs. When I was living in the UK I remember being thrilled that I was close enough to the Cadbury factory to go on their tour more than once. Also, I was shocked to find out that Cadbury eggs are available year round; growing up in the midwest they appeared in stores only right before Easter.
Cadbury eggs are my weakness. Though nearly every other super-sweet snack I used to adore no longer appeals to me, I still squeal and dance when these reappear. My friends know of this weakness, and through stockpiling and freezing, have found a way to control me, year round.
leapkate, I live in the UK and don't see vending machines often and have never seen a Cadbury's Creme Egg in any of them, ever. That said, you can buy them at many newsagents year round.
I want to have a DIY Kinder Egg!
The thing that makes cadbury eggs special is the cadbury chocolate!
My God. Has anyone seen the Creme Egg Suicides commercial series this year for the eggs? Rediculously cute. (They totally ripped off the "Bunny Suicides" books, but I still love them).
Something about the eggs running around going "goo goo goo googoogoogoo GOO!" in little high pitched voices is hilarious. [My fav so far is tied up the champagne cork and the mousetraps].

I'm definitely in the obsessed category--my husband knows that if he randomly shows up with a Creme egg during Easter season, he'll be my favorite person ever for at least a week. I cannot tell you how tempted I am to try this...
Reviewing the ingredient list, it looks like it can be veganized. Will have to try that out when I've got some time. I used to love eating a couple of creme eggs in Springtime.
Those creme egg suicide commercials remind me of Teeny Little Super Guy from Sesame Street. But those poor eggs! :(
Also obsessed. But it's like a dirty addiction for me because I am so grossed out by the sugary processed-ness of them and the fact that they are pretending to be a raw egg, which is just strange. I hate when Easter comes close because i know I won't be able to resist them forever. The worst part is when they go on sale after. It breaks down all my defenses and then I feel gross and guilty with my teeth aching from the sugar and the wrappers of a trio pack in my pocket. whew, good candy therapy session ;)
I love these! Despite that the first time I had one, I bit into it and it was green. Moldy. Ick!
so bad for you and yet oh so good!!! I prefer to freeze them, then eat. somehow they just taste even better.
Love, love, love Cadbury Cream Eggs! But the version from Laura Secord is even better. I like them chilled and then cut into thin slices. They are here now! Time to get my yearly fix!
I LOVE Cadbury Cream Eggs! I stockpile them every year (though they get a bit gross and the year goes on - I like the freezing idea in an earlier post). And Laura Secord butter cream eggs too - my grandma used to send them to us every year from Canada. But I haven't had one in years! Deprived...
