Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla from Nielsen-Massey
• $19.95 for 8-ounce bottle
• King Arthur Flour - The Baker's Catalogue
I have been buying my vanilla in larger quantities, finding that it saves me money and time. This 8-ounce (a full cup!) bottle of high-quality vanilla lasts a long time, and is cheaper than buying smaller quantities of inferior-quality vanilla at the grocery store. This vanilla has a deep, creamy flavor; it's everything good vanilla should be.
Certified gluten-free. Also comes in 4-ounce and 32-ounce size.

That's what I have in my cupboard. I didn't know it was the good stuff. Just bought it by chance. Lucky me.
Has anyone tried Nielson-Massey Mexican vanilla? I use their bourbon vanilla now too but I hear that Mexican vanilla is even better. I'm hesitant to switch.
The Mexican vanilla is amazing! I was fortunate to take a tour of their plant back in December. We did a taste test and the Mexican was my favorite, followed by the Madagascar. I'm also a HUGE fan of their vanilla paste which has actually vanilla specs in it. Great company, great products!
True Mexican Vanilla is wonderful. Just make sure it is pure vanilla. In Mexico they sell some really cheap vanilla made with paper pulp and all sorts of really disgusting stuff. Read the lable carefully. Any Neilsen-Massey vanilla is pure heaven. A dab behind your ears and people will fall in love with you.
best vanilla ever!!!!!
I use the powdered form of this, and really like it!
Can you use this instead of vanilla pods? Would work out much cheaper.
i use vanilla bean paste manufactured by this company. BEST EVER.
I do love this vanilla. I can tell a big difference. Plus, the bottles are just lovely when they're emptied and filled with little blooms!
I've found the larger sized bottles of this at my local TJ Maxx for around $7.99- they do turn up there from time to time.
This is the only vanilla I use. I only use Morton and Basset spices as well--another wonderful find.
