Did you know that you can write secret messages on a banana? Look and see...
Apparently, if you scratch a message on a banana, it stays mostly invisible — for about an hour. Then your message appears, almost by magic! A cute alternative to writing paper notes for a lunchbox...

I actually saw this on a blogger's site, http://thebloggess.com/2011/08/listen-to-the-bananas/
Except her messages were a bit twisted...
The idea is of putting this on bananas is adorable and, no waste since you're not using paper.
I hope that someone gets my,
I hope that someone gets my,
I hope that someone gets my,
Message on a banana ;)
@sunandtea LOL!!! :D
I was going to link to the Bloggess but I see that snoopystar beat me to it! My grown children were both at the house the other day and I'd left a "message on a 'nanner". The kids looked at each other and said, "I'm not eating it." (my message was more like the Bloggess ones and less like Faith's)
I saw someone insert a toothpick along the banana skin's seam and move it back and forth. The result is a banana "magically" cut into slices when you open it.
When I lived in Malawi, the kids used to do this with mangoes.
Pen and Teller describe a trick in which they painstakingly extract the contents of an orange (by cutting an "X" on one end, using a spoon to loosen and extract the fruit) and replacing it with an apple. The idea was to hold the damaged end in your hand while peeling, thus revealing an apple. Eat nonchalantly, and deny any awareness of oddity. I never tried it, but it sounded great. Incidentally, they also describe the pre-cut banana (but they use a hatpin instead of a toothpick). If you haven't seen it, "How To Play With Your Food" is a GREAT book!
So cute for a Valentine's Day treat.
I love this idea! I just made lunch for my husband and threw in a banana with a note on it that says "I'm bananas over you!" Hahahah!
EFM that is hilarious!
LOVE this idea. Thank you!!!
If you're Australian, you can carve into one at the store with 'Buy me, you'll look rich'.
lol @ sunandtea !
I did this a few months ago when we had bananas for some reason (we never do because they're not usually from the west coast).
What a lovely idea ! I share call mine ' Gratitude banana '.... Write ' thank you ' on the banana and leave it on my co worker desk before they arrive the office . They can have healthy fruit for breakfast and feel great all day....lovely
If I could do backwards writing I'd scratch "HELP I'M TRAPPED INSIDE A BANANA"
