Q: Any savory yogurt ideas? Of course I know raita and tzatziki and other sauce or marinades but I mean more as a snack or breakfast. All summer I've lived on a breakfast of tomato/cucumber salad doused in a container of plain yogurt with cayenne and thyme and I'm looking for something similar as tomatoes become more expensive (I can't stand sweets first thing in the morning).

Editor: Mo, here are two great breakfast ideas for you:
• Smoky Deviled Eggs with Greek Yogurt
• Cilbir (Turkish Poached Eggs over Yogurt)
Readers, any suggestions for Mo?

Greek Yogurt with toasted almonds and/or homemade granola is always yummy for breakfast, and not too sweet if you make the granola yourself.
labneh: strained yogurt cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and a pinch of salt (or za'atar) and use as a dip for pita or naan.
You can make it yourself, just dump the yogurt in a cheesecloth lined strainer, wrap the ball up tightly, and leave to rest over a bowl in the fridge for ~24 hrs. Don't squeeze it, just let the liquid drip out naturally. Use full fat yogurt for the best results. This was pretty common breakfast food in my house growing up.

I often make kicheree and serve with a side of plain yogurt. I also sometimes make parathas for breakfast and serve with yogurt.
I was going to suggest cilbir - I first had it on my trip to Turkey last fall and I've been obsessed ever since! So easy and so so tasty. The recipe you link to is pretty good but it should actually be made with aji biber (Turkish red pepper) or aleppo pepper flakes - that's how they made it everywhere I had it in Turkey.
Oh, I've also made poached eggs with yogurt sauce (a Turkish dish) that's very tasty.
Someone beat me to çilbir: yogurt whipped with garlic and either dill or mint, poured over a poached egg and topped with browned butter with Aleppo pepper.
I second the labneh suggestion. It's cheaper to strain it yourself rather than buying Greek yogurt, and it works just fine w/ low-fat yogurt. I eat it almost every morning! I put a fair amount of salt in the yogurt before straining. Drizzle with evoo, dip toasted pita and cucumbers in it; spread it on thick-cut toast and sprinkle w/ sesame seeds (or za'atar); make a sandwich in a warm pita with labneh, cukes, and slices of queso fresco.
p.s. I make it in a strainer lined w/ paper towels—no cheesecloth needed. This is how my Palestinian mother-in-law does it, so I do, too :) Just dump the yogurt in the paper towel-lined-strainer, and let sit overnight in the fridge. Easy!
Savory oatmeal-- with scallions, sesame oil and soy sauce-- is a delicious breakfast. And yogurt is great with oatmeal. I bet you could come up with a savory oatmeal-yogurt breakfast that would be really filling and healthy!
I don't know if this is too sweet for you, but one of my favorite breakfasts is oatmeal pancakes with vanilla yogurt and sliced fruit.
Maybe switch to plain/greek yogurt and add some savory ingredients? Just saw an interesting idea for cooking bacon in a pancake...
I really like yogurt by itself. A regular breakfast for me is a small bowl of yogurt (about a third of a cup) and some toast with peanut butter. I'm unemployed right now, but when I was working I would often eat my yogurt and toast immediately after waking up and then have a piece of fruit either to carry with me during my commute or to eat right before I walked out the door. I get the same thing of not wanting to eat sweets right away in the morning, but I also like to have fruit in the morning. This way I ate something savory right away, but I still got fruit into my morning meal.
Labneh! Labneh! I love 1/2 pita (1 layer of the whole round) spread with labneh, topped with cucumber spears, a drizzle of olive oil, a sprinkle of salt and rolled up to go!
I really like eating chilaquiles with a spoon of plain yogurt on top. It's very similar to sour cream in that respect, esp if you use a good full fat yogurt.
