Q: I'm co-hosting a lunchtime baby shower in mid-October. I am doing all the food. Unfortunately I'm not hosting at my own house, and I won't be able to get to the party location until an hour or so before the party. I'd prefer not to spend that time rushing around trying to cook in an unfamiliar kitchen — I want something that's either done or that I can just reheat.
For other parties, I've done make-ahead food like chili or pulled chicken, but those seem sort of messy for a baby shower, don't they? And the father's family is actually from Italy, so I don't know if my Italian-American standbys like lasagna can stand up! Do you have any ideas?

Editor: Jen, here are a few make-ahead ideas:
• Crustless Mini-Quiches - Just warm up!
• Tea Sandwiches - Some fresh ideas here.
• Fresh Mozzarella Toasts - Bring all the components and assemble there.
• Chicken Salad - Almost a cliché of baby showers, but this version lightens it up with a tangy yogurt dressing. You could also try this Italian Chicken Salad!
Readers, what would you suggest for Jen and this make-ahead baby shower menu?
