There are few things more satisfying than an absolutely jaw-dropping kitchen makeover. While you may think that you need a big, beefy budget to elicit those "OMG" gasps, you'd actually be wrong. Sometimes, amazing makeovers are much more about what you do and how you do it than how much money you spend on making over your space.

Case in point? This incredibly fun, playful kitchen makeover from Heather Douglas of Mysa Home Styling.

Heather and her husband recently became the proud owners of a charming 1960s house that needed a few updates to make it feel more at home in the year 2017. While a large-scale renovation was in the plan for way down the road, the couple wanted a short-term, budget-friendly solution that made their new space workable for them immediately.

With less than $200 and two weekends spent working, the pair transformed their kitchen into a playful, personality-packed cook space that any homeowner would be proud to call their own.

The visually heavy, dark wood upper cabinets were torn down and replaced with chic black and white bracket shelves from Home Depot. To make the wall pop, the couple put up peel-and-stick gold speckled wallpaper from Target. The paper complements the lower cabinets and some of the couple's metallic dishes and accessories.

A new lighting fixture over the sink and a shiny new faucet completed the fresh makeover.

The end result is this striking "in-between" space to tide the duo over until their full-blown kitchen renovation down the road. Just goes to show how far your money can go — even in a major space like a kitchen — if you get creative!

Do you love it? How far do you think $200 would go in your own kitchen?
