Sometimes we think that the average spice jar is really too small for our needs. You can't even fit a teaspoon into some of those narrow jars, and it also seems like we're always refilling ours. Well, take a look at this recycled solution for spice storage.
All those jars started life as Bonne Maman jam jars, and we like how they've found new life as spice containers! The 13-ounce jars are big enough for plenty of spices, which is nice for those of us who use tablespoons at a time in curries and other spicy dishes. It's also great to see recycling in use, of course.
And you can't go wrong with Bonne Maman jam; we really like their Four Fruits Preserves.
(Two more things in this little vignette: Can you spot the P.G. Tips tea (our favorite) and the Jamie Oliver Flavour Shaker?)

Floral Drink Dispen...

Wow, that is a lot of jam.
Cute idea.
There are very few spices I go through quickly enough to warrant purchasing that much at one time. I bought narrower teaspoons.
Looks nice, though.
I like to use those jars for drinkin'.
I call them my drinkin' jars.
Jam on it.
How many times did you run those jars through the dish washer before you stopped smelling the four fruits?
What a great idea! Cute AND functional.
Cute! But they should really be stored in a cupboard, because a lot of spices and herbs fare badly in (sun)light. Or you can paint the jars, or use découpage! ;D
i LOVE quatre fruits!
I use the same jars, but not really for large quantities of spices. I use it for small quantities of certain dry goods like corn starch and powdered sugar. I do have bay leaves, fennel seeds, and cumin seeds in some of them, but my kitchen is pretty dark most of the time (it gets almost no sunlight and has only one window).
These particular jars are quite nice, as is the jam that is sold in them.
Actually, CW, I prefer those jam jars for reusing b/c the odor doesn't stick on the jar lid (unlike tomato sauce jar lids)
I store spices, dried goods, left overs and even use them in the freezer for perfect double portions of home made ice cream..
And, yea, Art.. I use them as drinkin' jars too.. I love pouring some seltzer in to rinse the last bit of jam out.. Yum!
I guess it depends on how often you use your spices, but I prefer the smaller jars to force me to buy the spices fresh more often.
