We usually stick just to food and kitchen-related things here at The Kitchn, so I've been blogging some furniture over at our house and home sites instead of here. But I thought you all might be interested in seeing the table that I am having built to hopefully serve and hold good food for a long time to come...
My fiance and I decided that we would get a new table made from old wood - a giant 8-foot farm table to hopefully serve all our dining needs for a long time! I feel like a big table is the heart of a home, and we're very excited to have it built out of sustainable, repurposed wood. The wood, in fact, is from an old dismantled train station.
I have been blogging each stage of the process over at AT: Chicago - here are all the links so far...

• Visit David Ellison and see his tables at: The Lorimer Workshop. He is based in Rhode Island, but he is shipping the furniture we ordered at a very reasonable rate.

How exciting! I can already picture it filled with food and surrounded by people. What a beautiful table!
I wish you many happy meals in your new home!
Thank you bobcatsteph! I'll definitely posts pics after it arrives...
How beautiful Faith. A farmhouse table is on my wish list!
I had a table made by David a few years ago as well...it's a beautiful 10-foot, live edge table with metal legs. He did an amazing job, and was a pleasure to work with!
