I picked up these crazy heirloom Pineapple tomatoes this Sunday at the farmers' market. The woman who sold them to me thought I was nuts for picking them.
Question is, what to do with three small crazy tomatoes? They're probably the last I'll have for a while... I'll get a few nibbles, and then, back to New York where it will be months, literally, before I lay hands on a fresh, local love apple again.
In the meantime, for the majority of you without access to fresh, ripe, local tomatoes in February, here are a few posts to get you dreaming:

Oh man I am soooo jealous, what I wouldn't give for a taste of summer right now :)
oh, man!
i would carefully cut the tops off so as not to disturb their looney goodness. then i'd hollow out the bottoms a little and fill them with cheese (ricotta with garlic and herbs perhaps?) or polenta. throw them in the oven 'til they just barely start to break down. douse with a good olive oil. eat. die happy.

To two thick slices of buttered bread add thick, salted slices of pineapple tomatoes and perhaps some thick slices of bacon.
I always use heirloom tomatoes of different colors in ratatouille - its so colorful and fun and always delicious.
I would probably let these guys warm up on my windowsill while I run to the store for some fresh Buffalo Mozzarella and basil, cut them up and enjoy in a fantastic Caprese salad. Yum!
wow, those tomatoes look crazy! but i'd still eat them: tomatoes are my favorite!
"Love apple": love it! I am also jonesing for a juicy, flavorful summer tomato so I would relish these with only a drizzle of flavorful extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkling of sea salt.
wow- were they grown in Chernybol?
I've grown a lot of heirloom tomatoes but never that variety!
Right now I'm missing my home grown organic heirlooms but I've found this canned organic tomato that features local produce:
