Yes, yes - we know. We just predicted that the cupcake trend will be over soon (if it isn't already dead). And yet, we just couldn't pass up this cupcake. It stopped us in our tracks.
Cincinnati chili (for anyone who doesn't know) is a hearty beanless chili with a rich, complex flavor. There's usually cinnamon and cocoa cooked in - sometimes a pinch of coffee and some chilies. It's usually served with onions, shredded Cheddar cheese, and spaghetti noodles.
These cupcakes were created by Maggie at Dog Hill Kitchen in honor of her father's birthday. He is apparently a huge Cincy chili fan! Read all about the cupcakes here, including how she made the orange-colored white chocolate "cheese."
And if chili cupcakes really aren't your thing (they are definitely more of a novelty for us than a planned baking project!!) then take a chance to try out our recipe for Cincinnati Chili. It's a hearty, warming fall dish. It'll warm you right down to your toes.

Martha Concrete Lam...

Ooh, I *love* Cincinnati Chili, especially Skyline. The cupcakes are an interesting idea, but I'm glad they don't actually taste like Cincy chili because that would be pretty gross.
Now we're talking!
I normally don't eat cupcakes but this is one I'd be happy to eat. And lots of 'em ;)
This is definitively something I'll try next time I got friends around.
