My cousin got married last year and at the reception they had a really delightful breakfast-for-lunch affair, with a giant griddle and a jolly chef flipping pancakes dramatically. I thought of that wedding when I spotted this charming waffle cake — hello, wedding brunch! What do you think of waffles, instead of cake?

Why stop with waffles though? I'm picturing a pancake stack sky-high, with bride and bridegroom perched on top.
This particular "cake" and the whole shoot were created by some Austin wedding vendors. See more of this fun morning brunch in the desert, complete with hardboiled eggs and a cereal bar...

All I can do is sit and stare in amazement; wondering just how incredibly delicious, sticky and fulfilling this tower of insanity must be!!! It's so refreshing to see different takes on cake presentation; especially for weddings. As a post cater professional, I looked for different ways to help brides make their day special and unique...this would have been perfect for breakfast on the big day.
Norwegian waffle irons, with their heart shaped waffles, would be perfect for this! :)
All I can think of is the wedding episode of Parks and Recreation. Leslie and her waffles...
Mmmm, waffle wedding! What a fun, festive way to make a wedding a little more personal and idiosyncratic.
One of my favorite ideas for our wedding buffet was a make-your-own waffle bar with lots of syrups and macerated fruit and flavored butters and whipped cream and bacon bits and and and. The Fella had to talk me down pretty gently from that: it's a fun idea for a medium-sized group but in practice, it would have been pretty messy and impractical for a big family-and-friends gathering like our wedding. (HCI, when Ben settled on J.J.'s waffles as the wedding feast, The Fella and I high-fived.)
But this is reminding me that a waffle-bar brunch party would be swell!
Leslie Knope! This is literally perfect for you!
Leslie Knope's dream wedding cake.
Looks like I'm not the only one who immediately thought of Parks & Recreation!
Looks delicious. With the sweet syrup, one can actually serve just small slices for the guests. For more guilt free deliciousness, use a low calorie sugar substitute like agave nectar. It is great how the pouring of the syrup actually adds to what the bride and groom can do together as part of the ceremony..
also made me think of Parks and Recreation and how much fun it would be do do waffles vs cake (not a cake fan) at a wedding!
this is awesome...also once again Leslie Knope has all of the best ideas, haha.
