And...kapow! This kitchen island might as well have a comic strip bubble above it, because that's how that tangerine affects the space. It's a shot of energy, a juiced rush of color and fun. See another photo below:

You know what really makes it work for me? The minty blue tiled backsplash. That little bit of color in the background—softer, subtler—tones down the effect of the tangerine just enough so it doesn't feel like a raging color exclamation in an otherwise all-white kitchen. It's still striking and the clear focal point of the room, but it'd feel much starker, much more harsh if the kitchen was completely and totally devoid of all other color.

This, I love! Love the contrast of the sleek orange slice with the wood table and chairs. Love the pale blue backspIash. I would have art on the walls near the windows/glass door. But otherwise, love love love.
I also love it, but would add some art that draws on both of the colors used to unify the overall visual a bit.
