While browsing Pinterest for interesting kitchen design ideas, we came across this photo: a kitchen stove set into what looks like a chimney opening. How unusual!
According to the owner, two smaller rooms were combined to create one large, user-friendly kitchen. And that stove? Turns out they opened the chimney breast to make room for it. It was apparently "an excruciatingly dusty and noisy job," and we believe it. We wish we knew more about the project, but it has us thinking!

DANG. Gorgeous.
This is a dream. Holy smokes.
It's not really that unusual. In Australia loads of older houses where build pre-electricity with a stove such as an Aga, set in a chimney in the kitchen.
However, I've never seen a reno retaining the chimney done that well; most people rip the chimney out.
My friends in Pittsburgh are doing this right now in their rowhome kitchen, with exposed brick. Really earthy and homey! It's going to be fantastic!
