Aren't these kitchen cabinets striking? The owners hand-carved the tree pattern using an electric router. Stunning!
As we read in Dwell, the cutouts actually serve two purposes: they're decorative (and quite so!) but they also eliminate the need for cabinet pulls, which would jut out and break the clean line.

yup...definitely not cut by hand...anybody that's ever set foot in a woodshop can see that it's made by cnc-shopbot...

In the interview in the original article (which is linked), they do say that the cabinets and ceiling were CNC-milled for them. Just got caught up in a game of telephone, is all... :-)
