We just kicked off Cocktail Week, but we're going to take a little detour into desserts. Boozy desserts. Some of our favorite uses for liquor involve baked goods and other treats; here's a look back at some of our own recipes!
• 1. Sticky Spiked Double-Apple Cake with a Brown Sugar-Brandy Sauce - This amazing cake packs quite a wallop!
• 2. Boozy Campari Citrus Pops - With the refreshing bite of Campari!
• 3. Spicy Boozy Mousse - With dark rum or cognac.
• 4. Plum Sorbet with Lemon Verbena Cream - Spiked with plummy, jammy kirsch.
• 5. Spiked Lemon Ginger Sorbet - Spiked with whiskey for a smoother sorbet.
• 6. Chocolate Bourbon Truffle-Turtle Tart - Just a hint of bourbon...
• 7. Nutty Chocolate Tart - A nutty tart served with a healthy dollop of boozed-up whipped cream.
• 8. Prunes Stewed in Port Wine - Don't let their humble appearance fool you; these are amazing.
• 9. Spiced Red Wine Syrup - Tremendous treat over ice cream, and
• 10. Honey and Spice Poached Pears - These are poached in just water and spices, but try it with white wine or muscat instead.
• 11. Guinness-Milk Chocolate Ice Cream - Beer in ice cream? Oh yes.

Floral Drink Dispen...

Bread pudding in bourbon sauce.
Two old fashioned recipes I'd like to try are the Harvey Wallbanger cake and bourbon balls. The former used to fascinate me as I'd come across no less than 5 recipes for it in my mother's community cookbooks.
What dessert isn't good that involves booze?
There is a PERFECT cookbook for this sort of thing: Booze Cakes. I've been dying to give this book as a gift sometime soon. Check it out on amazon:

Um, saw this book on Good Morning America and just bought it, can't WAIT to try it out :) http://www.amazon.com/Boozy-Baker-Recipes-Spirited-Sweets/dp/0762438029/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282005346&sr=8-1
Jack Daniels and about anything! Well, not toothpaste or... Well, I can't think of anything else.
I like my mom's Bacardi rum cake from years ago - a yellow cake mix, vanilla pudding, rum, pecans, etc. and then a rum glaze drizzled over the bundt pan. Retro & delicious!
definitely the irish car bomb cupcakes i made from smitten kitchen's recipe - the whiskey chocolate ganache filling is AMAZING: http://makingelectricity.blogspot.com/2010/02/irish-car-bomb-cupcakes.html

Wow, tasty stuff. Also, there's Amaretto and Apricot Cake; very yummy and a bit lighter than some of those above.
My hips hate you for that apple cake.
Love adult desserts!
