Lamb Burgers
Heat up your grill. Once hot, throw 4 ears of corn on (unshucked).
1 lb. ground lamb
1 diced pepper (use what you have: jalepeno, bell pepper, etc.)
1T fresh thyme
1T fresh oregano
Can substitute other herbs (basil, parsley, savory, cilantro, etc.)
1 clove minced garlic
1 splash hot sauce
1 minced shallot (or 1-2T minced onion)
salt and pepper
Mix together and form 4 patties. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side. Add cheese if desired.
Marinated tomato and onion
Slice 2 large fresh tomatoes (homegrown preferred, heirloom if possible). Slice 1/2 of a sweet onion. Layer tomato and onion. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Let sit until burgers are cooked.
Top burgers with sliced, marinated tomato and onion. Serve on a fresh rosemary or sourdough roll. Serve with grilled corn on the cob and side salad. Enjoy!

TW Salt Mill by Wil...

LOVE this recipe Lindsey!!!
jeez, really?
contest rules state:
"5 photos of the recipe, its preparation, and its ingredients."
did Lindsey rush and just grab some photos of her garden, with two shots of someone eating? this to me seems to point to a HUGE problem with giving away prizes to the first X number of contestants.
@any such name - On the one hand, the rules are a little confusing and will be clarified. The entrant does not HAVE to show the ingredients and preparation in full detail, as long as the final dish is shown. See the FAQ:
How do I take better photos of my dish?
Photos are very important in this contest! You need at least great photo of the finished dish itself. For the rest of the photos you can show us the dish from other angles. You can also show us, if you wish, the cooking process and the ingredients. Ask yourself what kind of photos would be most useful to someone cooking this recipe for the first time.
But the initial rules seem to imply that those photos are required. That wasn't the intention. Thank you for pointing that out, and it will be fixed.
On the other hand, I think Lindsey did a good job of showing us the process of this recipe, with the garden and fresh ingredients too.
And just a note: if there are any other concerns or questions about contest rules, please direct them to our team directly at kitchen@apartmenttherapy.com -- we'd prefer not to have rules questions in the comments. Thanks to everyone on this! And stay tuned -- lots more great recipes coming up!
Love the burgers!!!
very yummy! thanks for sharing your recipe!
@faith - "Ask yourself what kind of photos would be most useful to someone cooking this recipe for the first time." does not have to, but two photos of someone sitting at a picnic bench could not really be considered useful, either. the second entry posted today seemed better able to understand what is generally warranted in recipe/instructional photos.
my apologies for publicly airing a legitimate grievance
Good job publicly airing it again.
This recipe is fabulous! It's nice to see lamb getting it's due respect. I love it. I especially like being able to adjust it by adding different herbs depending on what I have available. Your recipe suggests using fresh herbs so the photo of the potted herb garden really makes sense. (The onions even have dirt on the roots yet!) I also love the marinated tomato and onions that you suggested that is also shown on top of the lamb burger and on a plate in another photo.
lamb can be dicey -at least to me, it's either ok or grossly gamey - so i think the spices and herbs are a good addition. i like spicy burgers too, so maybe red pepper flakes or asian chili garlic paste would be another great option.
Wonderful recipe. Great use of vegetables and herbs with a lot of versatility in the combination of herbs that can be used. Also, like the unique use of lamb and the ease of quickly creating this delicious meal.
Excellent recipe, Lindsey!
I particularly love the marinated tomato-topper and that you offer herb options for quick substitutions.
Thanks for a fun, easy into-fall dish!
i saw this recipe this afternoon and made it tonight for dinner. it was quite easily one of the best burgers i have ever had! i used a jalapeno and Chalula hot sauce. delicious, thanks!
Awesome Lindsey! I'd try this soon! :)
This recipe is FABULOUS! It's quick and tastes great too.
And as for the photo comments - it's a recipe contest. We are in it for the food and tastes associated. I love it Lindsey - great job!
Interesting that most of these commenters created an AT account just today or yesterday. Lindsey must have great friends. This is a good, fast recipe, but I'm just concerned that the comments are more about popularity, and not what the community really thinks.
Hi everyone, this is Lindsey. Thanks for the comments... it's always good to have feedback! This is a great contest idea and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's recipes. Great ideas for changing my recipe! The pictures are of me and my prep for the meal. I've been a regular reader of this blog for over a year now but just created my account for 2 days ago for this contest. I'd consider myself to be part of the community even though I haven't commented before. Since most of you have probably been on here for a while also, lets just keep the comment policy in mind and be kind to one another. Now on to some good eats!
Lindsay, I'm so glad you submitted this recipe--lamb burgers are my absolute favorite! The meat is always so much more flavorful than regular ground beef and it gives you a lot more room to be creative with classic flavor combinations. I would highly recommend trying some mint in there in place of the other herbs you mentioned to give it a Mediterranean twist. I did this once and topped it with mint raita and it turned out amazing! http://tinyurl.com/ckfeuj
Can't wait to try your version as well!!
Mint does sound good. I actually have some growing in one of my pots (probably can't quite tell in the picture). Thanks for the suggestion and the link. You have some yummy looking recipes!
Love it! Very creative!
Great flavor! There are a few ingredients within this recipe that I never considered! (lamb, minced garlic, hot sauce)
Nice selection. How many calories would you calculate the 1/4 # lamb burger is ?
When do i get to play with oscar!??
