A departure from our regular food programming for one moment to indulge our childhood adoration of LEGOs. LEGO is reaching out to grown-up food-lovers right now with some seriously fun food-related sets. How about your own holiday bakery? Or a French-style city block complete with green grocer? Oh the fun we could have!
This Winter Village Bakery is so fun. Cupcakes in the window, and a chef complete with toque. So much fun for an aspiring young baker.
• Winter Village Bakery, $54.99 at LEGO Shop
The other food-related scene from LEGO that is just so amazing is this Green Grocer set. It's a big piece with a hefty price to match. But the photo here just doesn't do it justice. We saw this up-close in a store, and the level of detail is amazing. There are breads, vegetables, fruits, and a cash register — even a traditional awning. One reviewer pointed out that there's even a mouse hole inside!
• Green Grocer, $149.99 at LEGO Shop (sold out online but available in many stores)
We really can't see buying one of these for the nostalgic factor alone, but hey — maybe one of these days we'll have a kid who just begs for one of these sets for Christmas. We'd be more than happy to oblige!

Oh. Mah. Gah. If EVER there were a single Lego set to hit me right in my wheelhouse (or...something...), it would be this one. SANTA ARE YOU LISTENING!?
Totally buying myself a set of these to do along side the 6 year old with his Star Wars legos. Mommy finally feels like playing!!
We were in Legoland a few months ago. It was a major pilgramage for my (now) 6 yr old. I told him he could have any Lego set he wanted (within reason -- those things get expensive). He combed through the entire store and when he saw this set, he wouldn't let go. He *had* to have it. He didn't care about the Star Wars sets -- it had to be this one! We built this a few days ago and it's now our Christmas centerpiece. I love it! I can see us buying more of these village sets in the future.
Oh, and that wasn't meant as a diss against SW sets. We have several actually. I just thought it was funny how he keyed in on this one. It really is adorable and the details are great.
These are wonderful! Might have to be Christmas for Mom - we always make fun because she always gets new Lego kits every year for my two brothers (who are now grown), and then ends up sitting at the table to "help" them, doing it herself. This way she can just embrace it!
