Alcohol with your breakfast is one thing, but how do you feel about alcohol made from your breakfast? Smokey, salty bacon and bright lemons — this we have to try!
Let it be noted that I enjoy really sweet and smokey things. Remember these smoked lemon bars? I still have dreams about those bad boys, but maybe this drink is the next best thing.
The gist of the recipe calls for you to grind up half a piece of bacon and add it to your traditional sour ingredients, then shake and strain. I'd guess the type of bacon used would give you different results. Interested in trying it for yourself?

Red-and-Pink-Stripe...

what is this "leftover bacon" you speak of? i have to make twice as much bacon just to make sure there's enough left over for the meal i'm making it for.
not that i don't love bacon, but i'm not putting it in a whiskey drink.
i cant look at the picture without gett queasy
no. why can't people leave well enough alone.
AAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!
My brother would make this. Then again, he makes jalapeno lasagne.
I literally just fried up some bacon to try this, as it seemed like just the motivation I needed to dive into my Property Law reading.
It is absolutely perfect. The naysayers should give it a try.
HAHAHA, there's no such thing as left over bacon! Silliness!
what is this "leftover bacon" you speak of?
I clicked though to say exactly this, in exactly the same words.
cmcinnyc, I would kill to try some jalepeño lasagne.
In other news, I don't eat meat, but I would love to find a recipe for a whisky sour whose ingredients can be described as salty and smoky. It would probably be totally uncouth to just salt and add liquid smoke to my whisky sour, wouldn't it?
I also clicked through to say, "What leftover bacon?"
+1 "what is leftover bacon?"
When did you guys become a humor website?? Love it! This headline had me rolling on the floor!
Not sure I'd ever try this drink but I can definitely tell you that I suggested it to this list of Everything Bacon! Interesting idea...
I had to laugh when I saw the title "leftover bacon?".......as if.
My family once did a bacon-themed Thanksgiving (yes, we're *those* people). While I made a gingerbread house entirely out of meat products (see: thatched bacon roof and Slim Jim chimney), my brother made bacon-infused vodka and bacon-infused whisky. Both were TOTALLY foul. I'm intrigued by the crushing and straining here... maybe I'll be willing to give it a second shot?
I had bacon infused whiskey once at PDT in NYC...I made it at home and it was pretty good!! I posted the recipe on my blog a couple of weeks ago.
@Alicelost, I would either use a smoky Scotch, or I would play around with (very small amounts!) of black cardamom, which is very smoky.
As for the salt factor, I bet you could add a bit of preserved lemon to the fresh lemon juice (again, try a very small amount).
