We're all familiar with Le Creuset and their beautiful enameled cast iron pots. Every owner has a different reason for loving Le Creuset and it seem as though once you've purchased one, you'll be purchasing plenty more. But when you bring them all home — ah, that's where the real fun begins.
As of right now, I only own one Le Creuset Dutch oven which my fiance inherited from his mother. It's a beautiful yellow and we keep it on our stove at all times — we just can't resist how great it looks! We do have to admit that we're a bit envious of those who have collections!
No matter what the Le Creuset product, the colors are so vibrant that there's no reason to keep them tucked away between uses. Some love the idea of using a specialized display case, while others utilize that annoying space above cabinets. There's no wrong or right way, no one saying you can only purchase one color — just display them and share the love!
Do you display your Le Creuset pieces?

Straw Mat from The ...

I have a yellow Le Creuset that I keep on my range, mostly because it's so big and I rarely need all four burners.

I used to keep my oval Dutch oven on my (full-sized, gas) stove, but when I moved into an apartment with an (apartment-sized, electric) stove, I had to stop, since it took up too much room!
Keeping it on top of the cabinets would be a nice way to display a Le Creuset pot, but I prefer to use mine -- and that mama is way too heavy to put up on top of the cabinets after each use! :)
I do! Bu mainly because I bought them before I checked if there was space in my kitchen cabinets. (OK, I knew there was no room, but I am still thrilled I have them). I found some Le Creuset at Marshalls homegoods and finally got myself a beautiful dutch oven to complement my awesome skillet. Some day I hope to get a dutch oven that isnt their second rate quality, but until then, I will have lovely braises and roasts and no one but me will know the difference.
Do you know if your LeCreuset started out yellow - my dutch oven and casseroles are yellow but the matching skillets are still orange/flame. I do not use the skillets very much and hardly ever put them in the oven. I bought mine more than 30 years ago at the Rockaway mall in NJ. I went every week, no one would buy these "expensive" pots, and eventually I think I paid about $20 for an 8 piece set. They are actually Cousances - a company that Le Creuset bought out.
I have a couple of pieces of le creuset--big skillet, small dutch oven, buffet casserole--and a couple of pieces of the small shaped vegetable pieces that I got for free when I bought my le creuset. now that I have a slightly bigger kitchen with storage space, the veggies live on a shelf and the pots live in the lazy susan corner cabinet.
I have no problem leaving them out, but the 4th picture bugs me--at least take the label off so it looks like you could have cooked with it before!
I gotta be honest, I prefer my Staub La Cocottes and teapot. I think they look much sharper than the Le Creusets (which are sooo 1970s). That being said, I like to display mine since they are beautiful (and expensive!), it looks like I could be cooking something in them at any time.
I have a beautiful 8 QT dijon oven that's on my stove all the time. Although really I don't have a choice, because it's so large it doesn't fit in the cabinets in my apartment. It's so beautiful, however, that I don't mind.
Thank you for featuring my pot rack stack on your wonderful blog. I LOVE my Le Creuset collection. I so wanted to start with Staub, because I LOVE the little rooster finials they use on the tops of their pots; however, for cooking, I prefer the cream/white interior of the Le Creuset. It's much more difficult to guage the color of things I cook using deep, black pots. So for that reason, Staub was a non-option for me.
Happy Collecting, and best wishes!
I don't have a Le Creuset dutch oven, but I do keep my pretty red Lodge dutch oven on my stove at all times! I love the color it adds to the kitchen, and it's usually a fun conversation starter when we have people over for dinner!
Those eggplant-colored pieces make my heart go pitter-patter. However, I think I'll just admire them from afar and stick with my el cheapo, red Dutch oven from Target.
I have to admit, were I to convert to Le Creuset, I would definitely go after those lovely aubergine pots!
I keep my Le Creu out because of a) lack of cabinet space and b) I use it near every day. It's a very versatile pot! oh and yeah c) it looks good on the stove top!

Mine are on display. My Le Creuset is the most valuable thing in my kitchen and I'll be damned if I won't show it off! :)
My Le Creuset collection started out with a Carribean Blue 5.5qt dutch oven a few months ago, which stayed on the stove all the time for a few reasons. It was pretty, I used it all the time, and it was too heavy to be lifting in and out of our cabinets all the time. Plus, my cabinets have metal slide out baskets which are great... but too small for my Le Creuset and I am afraid of it damaging the enamel. I have since added a braiser, grill pan, and a wok in different colors.
The grill pan we keep in the cabinet, but the others are too big. Thanks to Le Creuset now I have to buy a sideboard for my pots! But I love it. The one we are looking at has open shelves, so my pretty pots will still be visible.
